And it’s not LG.

Former Lt. Gov. Brian Benjamin, fresh off the dismissal of his corruption case, has a new job – and it’s not his old one, despite an opening in the position again.

Benjamin recently started at CinqCare, a Washington, D.C.-based health care company with a presence in New York. He’s serving as the organization’s president for the northeast region after having previously consulted for the group. The company has a stated focus on health outcomes for communities of color. “One of our key priorities is to help end the maternal health crisis that is plaguing urban communities across the country, and I am excited to work with this outstanding team to make a meaningful impact,” Benjamin said in a statement.

After his indictment on corruption charges in 2022, Benjamin resigned from his post as lieutenant governor so as not to distract from government work and to focus on his defense. He has maintained his innocence throughout the course of trial. Federal prosecutors officially dropped the case last month following the death of a key witness early last year that stalled it.

Speaking to City & State shortly after prosecutors dropped the charges against him, Benjamin said he wouldn’t rule out another run for office, but also said that he believed there were other ways to continue contributing to his community. His new job with CinqCare would seem to be the latter.

News of the position also comes as Gov. Kathy Hochul is looking for a new lieutenant governor candidate after current Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado said he would not run for reelection. The timing of the news, and Benjamin’s recent vindication, started speculation that the governor may turn to someone old and familiar to fill the vacancy. But with the new private sector position, an immediate return to public office may not be in the cards for Benjamin – if he even would want to enter that arena again.
