How Global Strategy Group built itself into a top agency

A Q&A with Founding Partner and CEO Jon Silvan

Jon Silvan Global Strategy Group

How has Global Strategy Group grown over the years?

2024 was our biggest year yet! Looking back to our start in 1995 with my partner, Jefrey Pollock, I’m proud of how we evolved from a start-up political polling shop into a communications and public affairs agency with clients like MGM Resorts, T-Mobile, Netflix, Google, the Rockefeller Foundation, Teach for America and many other notables. We’ve been able to grow with one of the most strategic, committed and hardest working teams in the industry, keeping our senior leaders involved in every engagement.

As we’ve grown, our clients’ needs have become more complex, and so today we offer a wide range of services including traditional PR, brand research, crisis management, creative content and media solutions. This allows us to tackle client challenges with a 360-degree approach.  We leave no stone unturned to solve our clients’ challenges!

How did you perform in 2024 and what’s next?

Despite it being a difficult year for Democrats nationally, GSG played a key role in important political battles, with wins in several New York House races, and an impressive roster of ballot initiative victories on choice, including in New York with the Equal Rights Amendment. Our corporate practice expanded by taking on bigger campaigns, bringing Madison Avenue-level video production and creative media to industries like tech, energy, finance, real estate and health care. Looking ahead, we’re excited to launch a new corporate insights practice that will focus on market research to help our clients better understand and message to consumer audiences.

What does it take for your clients to achieve success?

The best results occur when we work closely with a coordinated team that includes C-suite executives, government affairs, legal and communications experts. This client-first, team-centered approach ensures fully informed advice and unified efforts toward common goals. Coordination, discipline and a shared sense of purpose are powerful! Additionally, we regularly introduce new ideas and methodologies to help clients stay ahead of challenges and seize opportunities.
