Since his peers in the U.S. House of Representatives voted in the affirmative to oust him from his seat last December, former Long Island representative George Santos says he has been busy – and that reclaiming his former seat is the last thing on his mind.
“I'm working on a movie – a documentary – and also a reality TV show,” Santos told City & State. “So there’s just so many things that I’m working on now that I prefer to engage in instead of going into a messy primary to take on Tom Suozzi.”
Of course, you have to take everything Santos says with a grain of salt. But a documentary, led by filmmaker Jenner Furst, about Santos’ life and short stint in Congress as a representative of the 3rd Congressional District is already in the works, The New York Times first reported in December. He is also a highly sought-after director (of sorts) himself: Santos has said that he’s been able to make more money on the video platform Cameo than he did as a member of the House. What the premise of the reality television show is or would be, though, remains to be seen.
While George has been busy, Nassau County’s Republican Committee has been sitting on its hands. After facing a decisive special election loss just a few weeks ago to now-Democratic House incumbent Suozzi, the Party has yet to publicly back a candidate ahead of an upcoming primary election in June, which will decide who runs against Suozzi in the general election.
