Brianna Suggs no longer fundraising for Eric Adams campaign

After his campaign fundraiser’s home was raided by the FBI earlier this month, New York City Mayor Eric Adams professed confidence in 25-year-old Brianna Suggs, saying that she followed rules and outraised every other fundraiser on his 2021 campaign.

But Adams said in a media briefing on Tuesday that Suggs is no longer in that position. “She is no longer doing fundraising for the campaign,” Adams said. Suggs is still working for the mayor’s reelection campaign but is transitioning into another role, according to a source close to the campaign. It’s not clear what that role is, however, or how the decision was made to make that transition.

Adams has not been accused of wrongdoing in the public corruption investigation that includes probing whether his 2021 campaign conspired with members of the Turkish government and received illegal campaign donations from Turkish citizens.

Later on Tuesday, it was reported that Suggs hired her own attorney to represent her in connection with the investigation. In the days after Suggs’ home was raided by the FBI, Adams said in an interview on PIX11 that Suggs was in contact with the campaign’s attorney. “She’s communicating with the team’s attorney and they’re going to continue to do so,” he said on Nov. 5. It’s unclear what prompted Suggs’ hiring of her own lawyer.
