Communications Workers of America District 1 rolled out a number of endorsements this morning, including for New York City Public Advocate Letitia James and city Comptroller Scott Stringer as both incumbents run for re-election.
“Tish James and Scott Stringer have been with us since day one,” said Dennis Trainor, CWA District 1’s vice president of the communications. “They have been forceful allies for working people in our city and we are proud to endorse them. They both stood with us in the fight against Verizon’s corporate greed and have stood up to Wall Street on behalf of all New Yorkers.”
The union is also backing 41 New York City Council candidates, most of them incumbents. Among the newcomers who won a CWA endorsement are Carlina Rivera, Marti Speranza, Diana Ayala, Marjorie Velazquez, Richard David, Brian Cunningham, Alicka Ampry-Samuel and Justin Brannan.
