Heard Around Town: Díaz calls Ramos confrontation with Trump "an embarrassment"

State Sen. Rubén Díaz is siding with Donald Trump after the Republican presidential contender clashed with Univision anchor Jorge Ramos at a press conference in Iowa on Tuesday.

“Jorge Ramos yesterday was an embarrassment for the Hispanics, immigrants and reporters,” Díaz told City & State. “Last night, Ramos made the case for Donald Trump when he says that we come here to take over."

Díaz also accused Ramos of wanting to debate but not actually asking questions.

The state senator, one of the more conservative Democratic lawmakers in the state, is hoping to arrange for Trump to make a stop in the Bronx while on the campaign trail. But there’s not set date for the Republican presidential nominee to make good on a promise to visit the boogie down borough.

“Now that Trump is getting crowds of 30,000 people, he may be expecting that from me,”  Díaz said. “It would be difficult to get that many people here in the Bronx for him. I can't even get 10,000 here for Donald Trump.”
