Sheldon Silver Cover Contest Winner

We have a winner!

The votes are in for City & State's Sheldon Silver cover contest, in which we asked our readers to come up with a headline for the cover of our Feb. 9 edition. The cover featured former Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, his long shadow and plenty of white space to work with. 

We received dozens of suggestions, which we narrowed down to four finalists. Then we put it up for a vote online. The winning submission, "It is what it is," was posted by Capitol Tonight on Twitter and garnered 57 percent of the vote.

The headline beat out several other strong contenders, including "Bharara's Silver Lining Payback," "Shel-DONE!" and "Shello Goodbye." The winning headline is also featured in the latest edition of City & State.
