Sen. Rubén Díaz confirms candidacy for New York City Council

As reported in this week’s Bochinche & Buzz, state Sen. Rubén Díaz is running for the New York City Council. Last week it was still bochinche, but as of this morning, it’s official. Díaz announced in a press release: "I have decided to officially announce my candidacy for the 18th Council District in the City of New York."

On Sunday, the controversial politico traveled to Albany to vote for the budget deal, even though one bochinchero had told us he wouldn't. Díaz played nice up in Albany, which is unusual for him. He praised Gov. Andrew Cuomo as well as his colleague in the Senate, Jeff Klein – whom he's criticized in the past for his Independent Democratic Conference maneuvering. 

Diaz’s press release announcing the Council run included statements like this one: "You should also know that there are few legislators who have 15 laws approved in 15 years. In fact, there are many legislators who have been unable to pass 1 bill in all of their legislative life." Guess who the mild manner político is talking about?

What the 74-year-old dynamic viejo didn’t include in his press release is the one reason all the bochincheros in Da' Bronx agree on – the real reason he’s running for City Council is just that he's tired of traveling. Hmm, I wonder if Díaz knows the word retire.
