We all know about the post-convention bump – the historic trend where public support increases for both the Republican and Democratic candidates in the immediate wake of their respective party conventions.
Coming off the Republican convention in Cleveland last week, Donald Trump got between a 6- and 7-point increase, depending on which poll you’re watching, putting him slightly ahead of Hillary Clinton going into the Democratic convention in Philadelphia this week.
While we don’t yet know how much of a bump Clinton will get from the convention, the Democrats did win the ratings game for the convention as a whole (although the RNC had more viewers watching Trump on the final night of the convention than Clinton on the final night of the DNC). Will it translate into a larger post-convention polling increase for Clinton than Trump?
Here’s Slant’s version of the post-convention poll. If the election were held today, which candidate would you vote for?
