In politics, people in opposing parties find ourselves set up as adversaries. We may be neighbors in the grocery aisle, but we’re enemies on the internet. It can be hard to find mutual understanding, if not agreement.
That’s the context in which I met Jessica Proud and Leticia Remauro, two Republican political strategists who I’ve appeared opposite on NY1's Consultants Corner. They're both razor sharp thinkers with deep reserves of respect and empathy for other perspectives. Listening to them has improved my own ideas, and expanded my understanding of why others think differently. So I wanted to pull them off camera to talk more deeply about what it means to be a Republican, a woman, and Republican women in a blue state like New York. Yes, we talked about Trump, but I think the rest of the conversation is the real gem.
