On this week's episode of the Slant Podcast, Editor-at-Large Gerson Borrero exclusively revealed that Gov. Andrew Cuomo's will name Rossana Rosado, the former editor and publisher of El Diario-La Prensa, as his next secretary of state. If confirmed by the state Senate, Rosado will replace Cesar Perales, who will will be retiring after five years as secretary.
Rosado, who is currently a distinguished lecturer at John Jay College’s Department of Latin American Studies, stepped down in 2013 as editor of El Diario, New York City's largest Spanish newspaper, after 18 years. Although Cuomo originally planned to announce his new secretary of state at the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus's annual legislative conference, he moved up the annoucement after Slant's exclusive broke.
