What Does the Future of Public Education in New York Look Like?
In May 2023, Governor Hochul highlighted historic education funding included in the Budget, marking the highest level of State aid ever. Funding includes programs for full day Pre-K, expansion of charter schools, special education tuition, after school care and programs, technological developments and more. What can New York expect in terms of statewide testing, ensuring school safety, funding and its correlation with achievement? What are other programs that all students in NY can take advantage of? This panel will begin to explore these opportunities.

Providing Services for Special Ed, Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities
New York is focused on improving the educational outcomes of students with disabilities. Research shows that most students with disabilities can meet high standards when provided with meaningful access and participation in the general education curriculum and appropriate, high quality specially designed instruction and support services. And for all students, mental health and wellness at the schools has become common and necessary. We discuss what has/needs to be put in place to make sure our students have all that they need.
