Upgrading New York’s Transportation Infrastructure
New York is pressing forward in addressing an array of transportation infrastructure needs. New York City is upgrading bus and subway systems, adding ferry routes, building EV charging infrastructure, expanding bike sharing options to the outer boroughs and offering more accessibility options. State officials are boosting funding for state and local infrastructure, both for downstate mass transit as well as highways, bridges, rail and aviation infrastructure across the state. Federal funds are flowing in, including on projects to help reconnect urban neighborhoods. Which of these top transportation projects are being prioritized and how will they facilitate regional economic growth?

Solving the NY's Transit Puzzle
After the pandemic, public transit satisfaction decreased in terms of safety, reliability and overall usage, however in the last 15 months usage has been trending UP across subway, bus and paratransit. At the same time, New York has been working to reduce traffic, improve air quality and provide more resources to invest in major public transit projects. Yet the plan has drawn complaints from politicians, drivers, workers and businesses who are opposed to the new tolls. We will discuss the idea of certain exemptions for groups and industries, how policymakers can strike the right balance between raising revenue and not stifling low-income workers and commuters, as well as how new ideas and technologies can be implemented to ensure the best NY transit experience.

The Future of NY Transportation
Transportation in New York is being disrupted by digital platforms that move people in new ways. What is being done to promote efficient and safer transit use? How are electric-powered bikes, cargo bikes, and scooters transforming how New Yorkers get around? How can we transform our car-centric streets into spaces that support a diversity of transportation options? How do we make transportation more accessible and affordable with financial incentives, while building new infrastructure for safe and convenient travel. New York City and the state are working together to modernize transportation through innovation, technology, sustainability, accessibility and more.
