Council Spox Jamie McShane To Join REBNY

Jamie McShane, the longtime director of communications for the New York City Council, will join the Real Estate Board of New York in a similar capacity. McShane will become senior vice president of communications, a newly created management-level position, and will be REBNY's point person in dealing with the media, REBNY President Steven Spinola announced in a statement.

"Jamie brings to REBNY a tremendous level of experience dealing with communications and public policy,” Spinola said. “He will be an asset to REBNY and our members as we continue to press the point that a successful real estate industry in New York City is the engine that creates good jobs, more housing and the critical tax revenue needed to support and sustain vital government services."

McShane worked in the Council since 2007, serving as Council Speaker Christine Quinn's chief spokesman. Before taking that job, McShane worked as a political producer for NBC New York, and previously for NY1 as well as CNN. In a statement, Quinn wished McShane well in his new endeavor.

"Jamie's love for our city is second to none,” Quinn said. “He is a deeply caring, compassionate and dedicated public servant. I am so very fortunate to have had him as part of my team and wish him all the best in this next venture. He is a valuable addition to REBNY and will help them reach new heights in further strengthening New York City.”
